Summary

The maintenance technician is a key contributor to the care, safety, and efficiency of Agri-Pack facility packaging machinery. Exercising superior troubleshooting skills, this position ensures that important equipment runs better and lasts longer.

 

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in Agri-Pack specific machine training, where required.
  • Execute mechanical and software troubleshooting of all packaging equipment, such as baggers and palletizers.
  • Perform emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
  • Regularly evaluate functionality and reliability of facility systems and equipment.
  • Plan and Implement maintenance procedures on existing and incoming equipment.
  • Maintain complete daily records of work performed.
  • Occasionally train new maintenance technicians on repair procedures and preventative maintenance based on company, industry, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Work with the production team on equipment operations and future purchasing decisions.
  • Demonstrate an extreme respect for OSHA guidelines and safety, and be an advocate for workplace accident prevention.
  • Practice curiosity and stay on top of industry trends and developments.
  • Take on other tasks and responsibilities, as needed.

 

Physical Demands

This position has a physical component and spends large amounts of time in a production facility which includes:

  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally climbing stairs and ladders and working at heights up to 25 ft.
  • Occasionally bend, reach, reach above shoulders, squat, kneel for 15 minutes, push or pull up to 50 lbs., twist/rotate arm, wrist and torso, and crawl 20 feet.

 

Expected Hours of Work

  • This position requires some occasional shift work, 10hr days sometimes 6 days per week.
  • Occasionally be on-call for emergency situations.

 

Experience and Skills:

Desired Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar electrical and/or mechanical maintenance role.
  • Previous technical training from a credible school or college in electronics, automation, and programming.
  • Familiarity with the inner workings of different types of packaging equipment.
  • The ability to diagnose software as well as hardware.
  • The ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
  • Previous experience working in a packing facility with potatoes, onions or other specialty crops a plus.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
