The Equipment Operator supports the farm by operating and maintaining farm equipment such as tractors, loaders, farm trucks, and harvesters across approximately 9,000 acres of ground for crop production, annually.



In this role, you will:

  • Effectively and safely operate, maintain, and repair farm equipment such as planters, harvesters, and sprayers.
  • Mix, load, and apply pesticides onto fields in accordance with label required rates and procedures.
  • Optimize practices and utilize the latest ag technology such as GPS and precision ag equipment.
  • Work with agronomists and share field observations to help identify crop pests, undesirable vegetation, and diseases affecting the health of specific crops.
  • Maintain records per company protocol and in compliance with WSDA (Washington State Department of Agriculture) and submit application records for billing purposes.
  • Maintain work area, chemical storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices and is compliant with WSDA.
  • Use and maintain all personal protection equipment (PPE) recommended for each work situation.
  • Exercise respect and professionalism when working with land owners and other staff.
  • Take on other tasks and responsibilities, as needed.


Physical Demands

  • Walking and working outdoors in the elements.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Driving between farm sites to move supplies.
  • Regularly handling objects of up to 65 lbs.


Expected Hours of Work

  • Typical daily farm hours are 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Harvest and planting seasons are busy and may require longer hours and some weekends.



  • Occasional travel to other farm locations, typically once per month lasting 1-2 days.


Experience and Skills:

Required Qualifications

  • A valid US driver’s license or the ability to acquire one and pass vehicle insurance verification.
  • A valid PAC (Private Applicator Certificate) or the ability to obtain one, as well as other relevant pesticide application certificates.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of experience operating complex farm equipment.


Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience working with farm equipment and crop production.
  • 2+ years’ experience repairing and maintaining farm equipment, including: fabricating, welding, electrical, and general mechanical repair.
  • A strong work-ethic, and a can-do attitude.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and a desire to be in a self-directed role.
  • The ability to prioritize and re-prioritize, as needed in an ever-changing environment.
  • Previous experience working with potatoes and irrigated crops a plus.
  • Knowledge of crop agronomics a plus.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Class A CDL is a plus.
  • Hazmat and tanker endorsements is a plus.
