Working with the support of the agronomy and farm operations teams, the Crop Production Manager supports the annual potato or onion planting, growing, and harvesting on approximately 4,000 acres of ground.



In this role, you will:



  • Support the farmer in the planting, growing, harvesting, and storage for crop production.
  • Be directly responsible for 600-800 acres of potato or onion crop.
  • Conduct day to day field work, such as injections, scouting, and watering.
  • Work with the Pasco team to create cropping plans that fit into crop marketing plans.
  • Work with seed suppliers and other external resources to acquire new and better varieties.
  • Coordinate crop decisions through analysis and information gathering.
  • Participate in field operations, including tillage, planting, cultivation, harvest, and cover crops.
  • Support the coordination of agronomic activities, including irrigation, fertilizer, and chemical applications.
  • Grow and maintain positive landlord, customer, and community relations.
  • Work with public and private researchers to better production practices.
  • Support efforts for innovation in agronomic, equipment, and storage practices.
  • Take on other tasks and responsibilities, as needed.




Physical Demands

  • Walking and working outdoors in the elements.
  • Driving between farm sites to move samples and other supplies.
  • Regularly lifting objects (such as crop samples) of up to 40-50 lbs.


Expected Hours of Work

  • Typical, daily farm hours are 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Harvest and planting seasons are busy and may require longer hours and some weekends.


Experience and Skills:

Required Qualifications

  • A WSDA private applicator license or the ability to obtain one.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass vehicle insurance verification.


Desired Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s of Science degree in agriculture or related field or the equivalent in experience.
  • Some previous experience or familiarity with managing irrigated crops, particularly potatoes and onions.
  • Superior organization and project management skills.
  • Financial management and budgeting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and communicate well.
  • Self-directed, yet consensus driven, with the ability to implement solutions with team input.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
