Position Summary

The CFO position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, including development of financial and operational strategies and metrics, enhancement and monitoring of control systems, and reporting of accurate financial results. This position has operational responsibility for the accounting, finance, and information technology of the company and will provide executive leadership to achieve the company’s strategic goals and vision. This executive level position will be exposed to diverse daily operations, as Tasteful Selections business encompasses growing and packaging.

Tasteful Selections, LLC, located in Arvin, California, is a specialty potato company whose mission is to delight the consumer with great tasting, easy to prepare, inspirational potato products. A joint venture between RPE, Inc., CSS Farms, Inc. and Plover River Farms, Inc., the company is a vertically integrated farming operation which grows, packs, and markets baby potatoes, fingerlings and seed potatoes. Relationships

Serving as a member of the Executive Management Team, this position reports directly to the President/CEO and serves as a member of the company’s Advisory Board. Direct management of Accounting and Information Technology. The CFO will directly manage financial operations for Tasteful Selections and all other affiliated entities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Accounting - Lead and manage the accounting team ensuring execution of proper financial reporting and controls

  • Develop, prepare, and analyze annual, quarterly and monthly accounting reports, budgets, forecasts, and variances for management to understand and review performance against goals and objectives
  • Develop, prepare, and analyze annual, quarterly, and monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Consolidate data integrations with multiple system platforms, as needed
  • Lead year-end financial audits and tax planning strategies with outside accounting firms
  • Manage accounting team in preparation, control, and reporting of A/R & A/P, inventory, fixed assets, and accrual management
  • Insure accounting transactions are properly recorded in accordance with GAAP and Company policies and procedures
  • Insure that all accounting systems, processes, and controls meet business and regulatory requirements, while improving accuracy, efficiency and work flow
  • Spearhead the research and implementation of new financial and reporting systems, as applicable
  • Analyze SKU rationalization and make recommendations for improvement, as a means of managing packing financials and controls

Finance - Provide finance leadership and decision making for internal and external stakeholders

  • Lead annual operating budgeting and capital budgeting processes, including the development and maintenance of the fiscal/annual budgets for sites
  • Create financing strategies to support company growth through effective lender relationships and reporting
  • Facilitate shareholder and Board of Directors reporting, providing quarterly reports and presentations during BOD meetings
  • Oversee balance sheet and treasury management to optimize capital structure and shareholder returns

Strategic Growth - Support strategic business growth as a part of the executive management team

  • Participate in new business evaluation, growth budgeting, and customer pricing strategy
  • Lead execution of merger and acquisition activities as a key strategy to achieve company’s growth targets
  • Participate in project management planning for building expansions, integrating new technologies, and implementation of new efficiencies

Risk Management and Procurement - Lead the overall efforts in proactive risk management

  • Manage procurement and hedging strategy related to grains, energy, and fertilizer as needed
  • Provide directional leadership on all legal issues and related matters, working closely with HR for employee related claims
  • Review & assist with insurance procurement including worker’s compensation, property & casualty, D&O and umbrella
  • Streamline company’s purchasing activities and controls to drive savings; oversee national purchasing account programs

Administration - Manage key corporate administrative functions

  • Provide managerial and strategic oversite of Technology/IT
  • Review and assist with strategic oversite of benefits and payroll functions
  • Assist with the development of new company policies and procedures and provide input to continuously improve processes and procedures

Experience and Skills:

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance or Master’s Degree in Accounting
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or mid-sized corporation
  • Experience managing financials, accounting in an agricultural business environment, and developing large teams
  • Ability to comprehend, read, write and communicate proficiently in English and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other financial statements
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Advanced proficiency with fully-integrated accounting systems
  • Outstanding communication, organizational, and leadership skills as well as excellent presentation skills
  • Functional expertise and experience to insure proper guidance for management and support staff
  • Ability to balance operational areas versus strategic management area which requires a fast-working, confident, critical thinker who can successfully manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously
  • Ability to establish/maintain productive working relationships with staff, management and other departments to effectively carry out job duties
  • Maintain proper confidentiality for all accounting and company information

 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations
