Position Summary Our Inventory and Scheduling Supervisor is responsible for planning and scheduling the plant functions for production scheduling and inventory availability to ensure the efficient and on-time pick-ups for customer orders. Organizes and executes scheduling and planning processes for various product lines and equipment.

Relationships This position will report directly to our Director of Plant Operations and will work closely with Operations personnel. Including, but not limited to tracking adherence review with Production Manager, missed appointment review with Shipping Manager, and daily communication with Sales. This position will also be overseeing scheduling personnel, with the possibility of having direct reports on multiple shifts.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Sales Correspondence

  • Maintain communication and working relationship between Tasteful Selections and outsourced sales team
  • Work with sales team to establish more consistent ordering standards
  • Inform sales staff on inventory, process, packaging, and other procedural updates
  • Advise sales of any unplanned delays, to assist with managing customer expectations
  • Communicate raw product availability with the sales team, to better control promised customer deliverables

Shipping & Other Departmental Interactions

  • Ensures scheduling meets shipping commitments for superior customer service and coordinate with Shipping Department as necessary
  • Coordinate with Production and Storage Managers to schedule wash-line activities, based on on-hand inventory
  • Assists Production Manager with long-term capacity planning and forecasting that will impact staffing needs
  • Participate in weekly and daily meetings to discuss raw goods inventory
  • Coordinate scheduled downtime with Maintenance and Sanitation personnel
  • Share production schedules and forecasting with appropriate departments and management team members
  • Communicate process changes to key personnel and provide training as necessary
  • Compiles and provides data to Plant Manager and Operations Management as needed

Scheduling Activities

  • Update daily production schedule to balance efficiencies and customer needs
  • Reschedule work flow when there are machine breakdowns, productivity slowdowns, changes in customer orders, or material shortages
  • Create wash-line schedule
  • Analyze, recommend, and implement improvements to current work methods, flows, and processes to increase output
  • Revise packaging schedule process(es)
  • Plan production and wash-line schedules together to forecast material outages
  • Develop and maintain full plant scheduling model
  • Create and maintain reports for on-demand schedule and participate in bi-weekly calls with RPE about inventory
  • Analyze and revise accurate scheduling model and forecast required inventory levels based on demand for common items
  • Manage schedule adherence reporting and analyze for additional improvements


  • Monitor and maintain raw material inventories to meet production needs
  • Monitors on-site and off-site storage of raw product, coordinates on-site deliveries as needed, and complies with FIFO standards
  • Manages inventory levels for raw product and finished goods
  • Aging finished goods inventory tasks - determine what should go out


  • Manage schedulers and/or other direct reports as assigned
  • Consistently supports LEAN and Continuous Improvement programs and processes
  • Involved in responsibilities related to Food Safety Programs and GMP compliance
  • Participates in Safety and Quality initiatives that will contribute to compliance with State/Federal regulations
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or related field of study
  • 5+ years experience in a production planning and/or supply chain environment
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based computer programs (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and general aptitude with software systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with conflicting priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend, read, write, and communicate proficiently in English and interact with all levels of the organization
