Position Summary

Tasteful Selections is in search of a self-directed and experienced Controller to oversee all financial management activities, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and financial risk management. The Controller position has significant autonomy and responsibility for managing and overseeing accounting and finance team. This position will work closely with Executive team members.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies/procedures
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures
  • Manage monthly and annual operating budgets and forecasts
  • Compile and analyze financial reporting for quarterly BOD meetings
  • Monitor the financial performance of the company and prepare reporting for senior management
  • Communicate financial metrics to senior management
  • Participate in development and support of strategic planning
  • Manage all accounting operations, including billing, AR, AP, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Coordinate delivery of information to external auditors for scheduled audits
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Comply with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
  • Issue timely, accurate, and complete financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Calculate and define financial and operating metrics
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Recommend improvements for accuracy, efficiency, and work flow
  • Provide data upon request to Executive Team and departmental managers to support business operations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience in senior accounting or financial management role
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and recognize trends
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in English, with all levels of the organization, including ability to comprehend, read, and write
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Experience creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month/year end closing processes
  • Self-motivated with ability to prioritize simultaneous projects with varying deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality for all accounting and company information
  • Eligible to work unrestricted in the U.S. without company sponsorship
  • Advance proficiency with fully-integrated accounting systems
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to review data with team members of all levels

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in agriculture, food processing, and/or manufacturing environments
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations
  • Developing budgets and tracking budget expenses
